King Charles’ staff is reportedly planning to monitor the meeting between Prince Harry and the monarch. The royal staff is allegedly wary of the Duke of Sussex being alone with the King.
Reports suggest palace staff will oversee any face-to-face meeting between King Charles and Prince Harry
Prince Harry’s visit to the U.K. ahead of the 2027 Invictus Games continues to attract attention. According to OK Magazine, a few royal experts have mentioned that the royal staff will be closely monitoring the meeting.
According to reports, Hilary Fordwich said: “Every interaction will need to be managed, even to the minute, by courtiers and those whose job it is to protect the monarchy.”
“They are far more concerned with the overall institution and continuity than the feelings of any one family member. This has been the case for generations. Harry should know better,” she added.
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield explained that the royal staff may linger during the meeting. She said, “The king’s private secretaries are also known to remain on standby, ready to step in if a conversation becomes uncomfortable or a difficult request is made, ending the meeting by reminding the king that his next engagement requires additional travel time and that he needs to leave. During meetings, a housemaid or butler serving tea may intentionally linger rather than immediately leave the room.”
The reports come as the ‘Spare’ author has begun his official U.K. tour. Right before the tour, many concerns, including security and accommodation, were raised by the prince’s team. Reports had suggested Meghan Markle, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet could accompany Harry, but he ultimately arrived alone amid ongoing security concerns.
While reports suggest palace staff will closely oversee any meeting between the King and Prince Harry, Buckingham Palace has not commented on the claims. Whether the visit will lead to any improvement in their relationship remains uncertain.
