Brad Pitt’s Daughter Zahara Publishes Legal Ad to Remove Pitt Last Name

Zahara Marley Jolie Pitt, daughter of exes Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has started taking legal measures to drop “Pitt” from her surname.

She follows her other siblings, who have removed or stopped using the “Pitt” surname, marking the long and painful battle between the stars and efforts to legally distance themselves from their father.

Zahara’s court filing moves her one step closer to officially changing her surname

According to TMZ, Zahara is seeking to change her legal name from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie. She first filed the petition in June and has now completed the required public notification process.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Zahara has completed one step in a legal name change in California. She has published a notice of her petition in the Los Angeles Daily Journal once a week for four consecutive weeks. The petition is also to invite any objections to the name change, which should be submitted in writing before the final hearing. The notice ran on June 16, June 23, June 30, and July 7 – thereby clearing the legal obligation.

Subsequently, the last step? A September 28 hearing, where the judge can approve the name change if there are no objections.

Zahara is not the first of the former couple’s children to distance herself from the Pitt surname. Sister Shiloh completed the same legal process before officially becoming Shiloh Jolie in 2024, while Maddox and Vivienne have also stopped publicly using “Pitt” in recent years.

A source close to Brad Pitt says that they believe Angelina is causing this rift between the father and children and is continuing a long-drawn-out campaign to separate them permanently.

The name change is the latest development in the aftermath of Pitt and Jolie’s long-running separation, which has been marked by years of legal battles involving their family and shared assets.

If the judge approves the petition, Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt will be known simply as Zahara Marley Jolie.
