Prince Harry Reveals One Parenting Tip From Late Mother Diana That He Follows

Prince Harry recently revealed a piece of parenting advice from his late mother, Princess Diana, that he carries with him. The Duke of Sussex shared his thoughts during a podcast appearance while in the UK. Diana’s legacy continues to shape Harry, who often credits her for shaping his views on family, mental health, and compassion.

Prince Harry opened up about the lasting influence his mother has had on him, especially in raising and caring for his own children.

The Duke of Sussex recalled how the late Princess of Wales would hug him and Prince William “as tight as possible.” He continues to mirror that same habit with his son, Archie, and daughter, Lilibet, after a tough day, per the Daily Express.

The remarks came during the Prince’s appearance on Joe Marler: Will See You Now. The episode was recorded last Thursday, July 9, and came out on Monday, July 13, at 5 p.m. U.K. time.

In conversation with ex-England rugby forward and Celebrity Traitors contestant Joe Marler, Harry remarked: “The resilience of kids is amazing, and the way they view life is so incredibly refreshing.” He added, “And if a day is hard, one thing I will do is always squeeze my kids that extra, extra tight.”

The episode kept things light as Prince Harry answered questions in a mock therapy setup led by “Dr Marler.” He even introduced himself with his full name: “Henry Charles Albert David, Duke of Sussex.”

The Independent further reported that Harry quipped his hair color was “auburn,” not “ginger.” When pressed to name his favorite “trashy TV show,” Harry went with “Love Island,” before clarifying: “I don’t watch Love Island, I have watched Love Island.”

Additionally, Prince Harry chose Kane “on a winning day” when asked to be Harry Styles, Harry Kane, or Harry Potter for 24 hours. The Duke also weighed in on England’s FIFA World Cup prospects. He said, “I think it’s coming home, not going to be easy – never is.”
