Rick Ross has a business-minded pitch for LeBron James as the NBA star considers his next move. The rapper believes South Beach could offer James more than another championship run.
Rick Ross says a return to Miami would help LeBron James grow his business empire
In an interview with TMZ Sports, Rick Ross urged James to consider returning to the Miami Heat. Speaking “from a boss’s perspective,” Ross argued that Miami would give the basketball icon room to expand the businesses he has built beyond the court.
“The boss move is for LeBron to come to Miami where the most billionaires are at,” Ross told TMZ Sports. “You got to feed the other 30 businesses that Bron has created.”
Ross made it clear that his advice centers on money and long-term growth, not only basketball. He praised Cleveland but maintained that Miami offers James better access to wealthy investors and business opportunities.
“This is about business, guys,” Ross said. He added that fans may still want to watch James dunk, but he would rather see the four-time champion place his brands on new buildings across downtown Miami.
The timing makes Ross’ message especially relevant. James has told the Los Angeles Lakers that he plans to play elsewhere during the 2026-27 season, ending an eight-year run that included the 2020 NBA championship. He has not announced his next team.
Miami now presents a different opportunity from the one James left in 2014. The Heat officially announced on X that they had acquired Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis from the Milwaukee Bucks in a blockbuster trade. Pairing James with Antetokounmpo would give Miami a headline-making combination.
Ross did not rule out a return to Cleveland, but he maintained that South Florida offers James greater opportunities to grow his business ventures. For Ross, the next chapter should be about building a legacy beyond basketball.
For now, the LeBron James free agency decision remains open. Ross made his preferred destination clear, and his reasoning extends beyond the court.
