Bachelor Alum Madi Prewett Reflects on Years of ‘Secret Sexual Sin’

Bachelor Nation alum Madison Prewett believes that she was engaged in a “sexual sin” before she got married.

Speaking on the “Stay True” podcast, Prewett recalled how God had helped her find a way out.

The Bachelor star discusses overcoming shame before marriage

According to Us Weekly, Prewett was “enslaved” to pornography and masturbation before marrying Grant Troutt in 2022. She describes her “sexual sin” as having brought on a feeling of shame in the course of her relationship. “I felt so much shame in my relationship. I felt so much shame in my identity,” she said on the July 20 episode of her podcast.

Prewett remained abstinent until married, but could not help falling into other forms of sexual temptation. The actress revealed that turning to God helped her in the new chapter of her life. She realized that God was “not trying to rip me off. He actually wants me to be free.’” She also analyzed her relationship and noted that the shame “isn’t making me closer in my relationship.”

I actually feel ashamed, I feel distant [and] I feel like I want to hide myself,” the 30-year-old actress revealed her feelings after committing the deed. She emphasized that listening to God’s voice is vital as He wants “you to be free.”

Prewett also revealed that reading the Corinthians turned her life around. She praised God, as, “He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear,” adding, “That is so powerful to me because it tells me that I will never be presented with a situation where I have to sin. Never.”

Prewett confessed that she was not being completely faithful when indulging in her desires, and always felt, “a chip on my shoulder.” It wasn’t until she “dove into the word of God and chased holiness with all of my heart,” that she found a way out.

Madison Prewett rose to fame as a contestant on The Bachelor. She went on to build a large following as a Christian author, speaker, and influencer. She married entrepreneur Grant Troutt in 2022. The couple welcomed their first child in 2025.
