Zendaya’s plunging dress comes with high slit and David Webb spider brooch for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’
Zendaya’s unconventional dressing sense went up a notch at the “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” premiere, where she wore a plunging high-slit dress styled with a David Webb spider brooch. For the event, she opted for an archival Atelier Versace piece from the brand’s Spring/Summer 2016 couture collection.
It featured a low neckline along with a dramatically high slit that exuded daring vibes. It was crafted from delicate off-white fabric that wrapped around her bodice. Meanwhile, the sparkling black mesh filling the spaces between the fabric created a web-like design, making it a perfect choice for the movie premiere.
The archival number was held together by two straps, one of which featured black cords, whereas the other was crafted from off-white fabric. The combination of off-white and black created a striking contrast while showcasing the craftsmanship of the couture piece.
However, the standout element was definitely the vintage spider brooch pinned at her hip. It was initially believed to be a piece from Chopard. However, jewelry house David Webb later confirmed that it was one of its archival designs from the 1990s.
The brooch’s design is unique in its own right. With a large cushion-cut yellow sapphire at its centre, surrounded by diamonds, it caught the light from every angle. The design lets the wearer remove the centre stone and wear it on its own as well.
Moreover, the spider’s legs, covered with diamonds, are fully movable, giving the piece a realistic appearance. The striking brooch perfectly complemented the web-inspired dress.
Keeping the rest of the look simple, Zendaya opted out of additional accessories, wearing only a watch and finishing the look with white Miss Z pumps from Christian Louboutin. She wore her hair down with bangs framing her face. She finished the look with glamorous makeup, including smoky eyes and a flattering lip shade.
