Influencer Sara Gilson was fatally shot by her estranged husband, Jeremiah “Shawn” Duffey, on July 23, 2026, at Gilson’s home in Owasso, Oklahoma. He then proceeded to shoot himself.
Just weeks before her death, Gilson revealed that her husband was a paedophile.

According to People, Giles had accused Jeremiah Duffey of being a “pedophile”. The comment came after police confirmed that he “had inappropriately touched a juvenile female” player. The minor girl belonged to the basketball team Duffey coached. “I wish I was joking,” she captioned the social media post.
On June 10, Gilson filed for an emergency protective order against him. Consequently, Duffey was ordered to stay 100 yards away from the home. The order was later extended to Aug 24. Another woman filed a protective order against him, on behalf of her 15-year-old daughter.
Reportedly, the minor girl, who belonged to the basketball team Duffey was coaching, had been inappropriately touched by him. In a statement, OPD spokesperson Captain Nick Boatman said that it was discovered that Duffey “had inappropriately touched a juvenile female member of the team he was coaching, inside the school during an event that evening.”
The Captain noted, “The report, listing the crime of Lewd Molestation of a Minor, was sent to the US Attorney’s Office for review, ending the jurisdiction of the Owasso Police Department over this reported incident.” He also notes that the girl faced similar incidents “across multiple states prior to this incident.”
Just weeks after this, Duffey went to Gils’s home to shoot her and then himself. The day of the shooting coincided with when the protection order was renewed.
