King Charles may be willing to extend another olive branch to Prince Harry, but according to insiders, that alone may not smooth the path for the Duke’s next visit to Britain. Reports suggest the monarch wishes to welcome his youngest son back to Buckingham Palace during his September trip. However, palace sources claim Harry could face resistance from another group that the King may not be able to win over.

Multiple outlets have reported that Prince Harry is preparing to return to the UK in September for the annual WellChild Awards. Ahead of the visit, it’s also been speculated that King Charles is yet again willing to offer Harry a room at Buckingham Palace. The invitation is said to be part of the King’s continued efforts to rebuild their relationship. However, insiders claim that gesture may only solve part of the problem.
According to one palace source, staff members remain upset over the events that followed Harry’s royal exit. This includes the release of “Spare” and Harry and Meghan’s interviews. “Nothing has changed,” the insider told Naughty But Nice. The source alleged that although Charles wants Harry under his roof, many within the palace household do not share that view. Because of that, the Duke could face an uneasy atmosphere during his stay.
Another insider claimed opposition from palace staff had previously influenced the decision to withdraw an earlier accommodation offer. Now, with another visit approaching, the source alleged similar concerns have resurfaced.
“The atmosphere would be incredibly uncomfortable,” the insider said. They added that staff would remain professional. “But don’t mistake professionalism for forgiveness,” the source claimed, suggesting lingering resentment still exists.
Meanwhile, the 77-year-old monarch has reportedly continued to pursue reconciliation. Earlier this month, Harry was said to have reunited with his father at Highgrove House. Meghan Markle, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet also joined the visit. As per reports, it marked the first time Charles had seen his grandchildren since 2022.
Even so, another source claimed Harry’s biggest obstacle extends beyond repairing family ties. “Reconciliation isn’t just about repairing a relationship between father and son,” the insider told Rob Shuter’s Substack. In the source’s view, Harry must also rebuild trust with the people “who keep the monarchy running every day.” The insider described that as what could become his “toughest challenge” yet.
