Kelly Ripa Opens Up About Cosmetic Surgery With RHOC’s Dr. Terry Dubrow

Kelly Ripa is speaking candidly about cosmetic surgery, including a breast augmentation trend that caught her attention. The television host’s questions to RHOC personality Terry Dubrow centered on implant longevity, possible complications, and whether she might be a candidate.

Kelly Ripa opened up about cosmetic procedures while discussing the growing trend with Dr. Terry Dubrow

During a recent episode of “Let’s Talk Off Camera,” Dubrow described the “ballerina breast” look as a subtle result created with small, less detectable implants. He identified Motiva as the product behind the trend, prompting Ripa to joke that she was a “perfect contender.”

Ripa asked whether the gel breast implants would need replacement every 10 years. Dubrow said patients do not automatically need to replace them on that schedule, although they require continued surveillance. He added that someone without pain, swelling, hardening or another clinical change could potentially keep the implants much longer.

Official guidance adds an important qualification. The FDA’s Motiva patient information says breast implants are not lifetime devices and patients may need future surgery. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons says the FDA recommends an ultrasound or MRI five to six years after silicone implant placement, followed by imaging every two to three years.

Ripa also raised concerns about capsular contracture, which occurs when scar tissue tightens around an implant. Dubrow told her that Motiva carried a “less than one percent chance” of that complication. He called the development a “game changer,” and Ripa responded, “We are going!” However, she did not confirm plans to undergo surgery.

The Kelly Ripa plastic surgery discussion followed her earlier comments about breast augmentation. She previously said she had attended several consultations but reconsidered after seeing online “horror stories.” Ripa has spoken more openly about nonsurgical treatments, including microneedling on her buttocks.

Dubrow regularly discusses cosmetic surgery through “Botched” and his Real Housewives of Orange County appearances. He has also shared his views on children seeking plastic surgery and joined “Botched Presents: Plastic Surgery Rewind”, which encouraged participants to reconsider previous procedures.

The exchange remained playful, but Ripa’s questions focused on the practical risks and maintenance behind a growing cosmetic surgery trend.
