Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank have been splitting their time between Portugal and the U.K. since 2022. Brooksbank relocated there after taking up a new role with property tycoon Mike Meldman. At the time, a source told The Telegraph, “It’s a very exciting time for them.”
Eugenie also opened up about life in Portugal during an appearance on the Table Manners podcast in 2023. She said, “This is why Portugal is the dream because I can go to the supermarket in my exercise gear and my hair piled on my head and not mind. Not care. No one cares.”
According to PEOPLE, the couple welcomed their daughter at a hospital in Lisbon on Aug. 3. Buckingham Palace announced the birth a day later, stating, “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr. Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, born on Monday, 3rd August 2026, at 6:20 pm, at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal. The baby was born weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces.”
Eugenie also shared the happy news on Instagram. Posting the first glimpse of her daughter, she wrote, “Jack and I are so excited to announce Baby Girl Brooksbank!! We are beyond in love with our girlie.”
The baby is the couple’s first child to be born outside the U.K. Their sons, August and Ernest, were both born at the Portland Hospital in London. With her birth, the couple’s daughter joined the line of succession to the British throne.
Princess Eugenie is currently 12th in line. Her daughter is now 15th in the order of succession. The birth also pushes Prince Edward, the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth, down to the 16th spot.
