Role Model has confirmed his relationship with Dakota Johnson and shared details of a happier chapter in his life. The singer also revealed that his new album helped him get introspective and encouraged him to start therapy.
In a recent interview, he reflected on love, personal growth and learning more about himself. He also explained why he now prefers to keep his relationships out of the spotlight.

Role Model, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury, told NYLON that his third studio album, Chuck Timely & the Hourglass, helped him discover things about himself. He said writing the songs made him question whether he needed to change before finding lasting happiness. “The album did something very good for me,” he said. He added that the process made him look at himself “a little bit deeper.”
The singer also confirmed that he and Dakota Johnson are together after months of speculation. The pair had been romantically linked since late 2025 after they were photographed together on several occasions. Pillsbury had not officially admitted to the romance until now. He explained that he would like to maintain the relationship in private because “the internet just has a field day. “Keeping things about music is what I’ve learned,” he explained.
Johnson also appears on the new album with a spoken-word part on the track “Love I You.” Pillsbury said he intended to have a female voice on the song at first. He recalled that Johnson volunteered after visiting the studio and recorded the part right away. He said the result turned into “an amazing cameo.”
The album also captures his quest for happiness following heartbreak. Pillsbury admitted he often expects the worst, even in healthy relationships. He added that he now wants to build a happier life, whether his career succeeds or not.
