Carmen Electra reflected on one of the biggest moments in her personal life while promoting Fox Nation’s Dumbest. In an interview, she discussed how her relationship with Dennis Rodman turned sour. Electra said the people around the former NBA star created problems in their relationship. She also shared how her career and financial independence shaped her perspective.
Carmen Electra reflects on why her marriage to Dennis Rodman did not work out
Electra exclusively told Us Weekly on Aug. 4 that marrying Rodman “could have been, like, not the best choice.” She said the people around him at the time were “really weird” and that everyone wanted his money. Electra said those assumptions never matched her situation. “I had my own money. I wasn’t out for Dennis Rodman’s money,” she said.
Electra and Rodman began an intense romance in the late 1990s and wed in Las Vegas in November 1998. Their marriage lasted only a year before they divorced in 1999. Looking back, Electra said she already had a successful career before the marriage. She told the outlet that she worked with MTV and Baywatch and paid for her own condo in Beverly Hills.
“I was working a lot,” Electra said while describing that period of her life. She added, “Independent queen. I believe in that.” Electra also said people should approach life with the same mindset. Her remarks emphasized the importance of financial independence.
Electra also discussed her experience on Nation’s Dumbest, where celebrity contestants compete in school-themed challenges. She said she hoped to surprise viewers by showing her street smarts instead of relying on her image. Electra said she did not pay much attention in school because she was busy with dance classes at her performing arts school. She joked that she earned an “A+” in sex education, even though other subjects felt like “a real struggle.”
The actress said she never expected such a warm response from viewers after joining the Fox series. “I had no idea so many people would love me on the show,” she told Us Weekly. She said fans have told her they like her because she is funny. Hosted by Jack Whitehall, Nation’s Dumbest has already eliminated singer Elle King and Dr Drew Pinsky.
