Cheri Oteri shared a hopeful update after her recent breast cancer surgery. The Saturday Night Live alum celebrated her final day of radiation treatment by ringing the bell four times at Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California.

The 63-year-old comedian posted the heartfelt update on Instagram to her 199,000 followers. She wrote, “Okay, I rang the bell 4 times. I was excited. Thank you to my amazingly talented surgeon @janiegrumley at Providence Saint John’s and champion of all things women’s health Dr. Sherry Ross @drsherryr. I’m healthy and feeling so much gratitude.”
The Emmy-nominated actress can be heard saying in the video, “Yay! Okay, heading in.” “‘Doo doo, doo doo doo, doo doo doo! Look at all that machinery!” she added.
Following the post, Oteri was flooded with well wishes from fans in the comments section. One of them commented, “I’ve never heard of a more glorious ring. Sending love, my lovely friend.” Another wrote, “Congratulations to an icon & legend! Be well & wishing you much joy. Godspeed.”
Many commenters shared their own stories and words of encouragement. A follower wrote, “My mother had the same cancer. She was 49; she too beat it and will now be 82 in December.” One more said, “I just finished my 17th session of 20! Also had DCIS.”
As per Deadline, Oteri announced earlier this June that she had been diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS). In recent weeks, she underwent a second lumpectomy. She said she is feeling “great” and added that “everything looks normal and fine” after the surgery. However, sh emphasized that her cancer was detected early. She encouraged everyone to schedule their mammograms, adding, “I caught it really early.”
