Meghan Markle‘s latest birthday video has sparked fresh comparisons with the Prince and Princess of Wales. A former royal butler believes the Duchess of Sussex may have taken inspiration from Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s social media style. According to the report, the similarities go beyond the content itself and extend to the way the moments were presented.

Meghan Markle marked her 45th birthday by sharing a series of personal posts on Instagram. One image showed her jumping into a swimming pool while holding birthday balloons. In separate clips, she was also seen dancing in the kitchen and placing party hats on her pups. As such, the posts offered followers a behind-the-scenes look at the celebration.
Soon after, former royal butler Grant Harrold drew comparisons with Prince William and Kate Middleton’s recent online content. As reported by Express Online, Harrold claimed the videos immediately reminded him of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ social media approach. In recent months, William and Middleton have shared more informal videos to mark special occasions, including birthday tributes featuring family holidays, beach outings, and cricket games.
Because of those similarities, Harrold alleged Markle’s latest uploads felt familiar. “When I first saw it, I thought it was them almost trying to one-up William and Kate,” he said. He further claimed the style of the videos was “very close to the bone” when compared to how the Waleses now communicate with the public online.
However, Harrold also acknowledged that Markle had every right to celebrate her birthday publicly. Even so, he alleged the similarities appeared “intentional” and suggested there were “other ways” the occasion could have been shared.
He then pointed to the behind-the-scenes clips as another example. According to Harrold, the videos appeared designed to look spontaneous. However, he claimed it was “obvious” Markle knew she was being filmed.
Meanwhile, little is known about how Markle actually celebrated her birthday. Per the outlet, she is believed to have spent the day with Prince Harry and their children. Harry could seemingly be heard speaking in the background of some of the Instagram videos.
