Ariana Grande faced fresh criticism just as she prepared to step away from the spotlight for a while. Megyn Kelly targeted the singer’s appearance and latest music video while discussing Grande’s future plans.
The comments came just days after Grande confirmed she would soon reduce her public visibility.

Kelly criticized Grande during the Aug. 6 episode of The Megyn Kelly Show. She focused on the singer’s appearance before discussing the graphic storyline in Grande’s “Petal” music video.
“Grande has never said that she has an eating disorder, you take one look at her and you’d be crazy not to suspect she does,” Kelly said during the broadcast.
Kelly also highlighted a still from the July 31 video. “Look at this picture here we are showing where she is skin and bones,” she said. “The clavicle, just all of the bones on the torso are protruding above her V-neck top. Her arms look skeletal. Her face has looks skeletal for quite some time.”
The host also criticized the video’s violent plot. The visual followed Grande as Hollywood executives repeatedly rejected her during auditions. Eventually, the singer’s character snapped and attacked the executives with a chainsaw.
“Oh my God. She is covered in blood,” Kelly said during the discussion. “She’s got problems.”
Kelly also addressed claims that Grande’s management planned to encourage the singer to pursue a wellness program after her Eternal Sunshine tour concluded. “They want to wait,” Kelly claimed. “They think that she should be allowed to complete her tour… and then they’re going to encourage her to go into some sort of wellness program or treatment program.”
Meanwhile, Grande’s representative had previously confirmed that the singer planned to take a break after finishing her tour. In a statement shared with PEOPLE, the spokesperson said Grande looked forward to ending the tour “healthily and happily” before taking “a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances,” adding that constant scrutiny had followed her career.
Grande later addressed fans directly during a Chicago concert. She insisted the planned hiatus was not an impulsive decision. Instead, she explained it came from “a thoughtful and empowered place” after careful planning.
The singer’s Eternal Sunshine tour is scheduled to conclude on Sept. 1.
