Cooper opened up about the unforgettable experience during the Aug. 4 premiere of HBO’s Hard Knocks. While chatting with Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold, he recalled spotting former NFL quarterback Tony Romo at the celebration before the conversation turned toward his own invitation.
“Wait, what? He was at the wedding? Did you go?” Darnold asked.
“I did,” Cooper replied before admitting, “Bro, when I got the invitation, I thought it was a joke. I just would have imagined there was a laundry list of people that just knew him better,” according to the episode.
Darnold jokingly reminded his teammate, “Yeah, well, they invited a thousand people.” Cooper simply laughed it off and responded, “Yeah, but I mean it was cool.”
The July 3 wedding took place at Madison Square Garden and reportedly welcomed around 1,000 guests from sports and entertainment. Cooper and Anna Marie were photographed arriving at the venue, with the receiver wearing a classic black tuxedo while his wife chose a striking red gown.
The celebration reportedly followed a strict no-phones policy. PEOPLE introduced that detail through an insider, who explained, “Guests have been told there will be a phone check upon arrival.”
Several guests later shared emotional memories from the evening. Donna Kelce described the event in a Macy’s Instagram video as “magical, man, magical.”
Jason Kelce admitted on SportsRadio 94WIP, “I did cry. I probably cried more this wedding than I cried at my own wedding.”
Retired NFL star Rob Gronkowski also praised the celebration during The Other Football, saying, “It was top-notch. Hats off to Taylor and Trav. The dance floor… it was popping.”
