Insiders claim Taylor Swift plays a key role in the Hollywood stars’ rivalry
Adam Sandler and Ryan Reynolds have kept a cold distance for years, according to insiders cited by RadarOnline.com, with Taylor Swift said to play a key role.
Sandler’s camp disputes the claims. One source close to him dismissed the feud talk as “a lie” and said the two do not know each other at all. However, insiders described a Hollywood comedy feud that they claim traces back to how each man broke into the business.
“Adam and Ryan aren’t friends. They’re competitors, and that’s not going to change anytime soon. It really comes down to their origins in show business,” said an insider.
Insiders said the work came long before the recognition.
“Adam was not an overnight success. He grinded it out in obscurity as a young man, first in stand-up, then in the early ’90s on ‘Saturday Night Live,'” the insider said. “He’s always written his own material and now he draws on the friends he made on his way up, like Jennifer Aniston and Chris Rock, to populate his films for Netflix and the big screen.”
Reynolds entered the industry much earlier. He acted as a child on a Canadian series, and American viewers found him through Nickelodeon. Sources cited that difference when describing the Ryan Reynolds rivalry.
“Ryan never really had to cut his teeth the way Adam did to get on American TV and when it comes to his films, Ryan takes a more mercenary approach,” said a source. “He’s turned his ‘Deadpool’ movies into global hits precisely because he doesn’t rely on people that he’s known since he was in his 20s. If Ryan sees dollar signs, he’ll put somebody in his movie.”
Insiders said Sandler has become a real presence around Swift and her husband, Travis Kelce. Meanwhile, the singer’s friendship with Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, has reportedly cooled. That shift, according to the sources, intensified the Adam Sandler Hollywood spat.
Sandler picked his side without making noise about it, insiders claimed. They said he stood behind Swift and Kelce once Lively’s legal battle with Justin Baldoni, her “It Ends With Us” co-star, drew the singer into the dispute. Moreover, sources said his bond with the couple grew for two reasons. Kelce appeared in “Happy Gilmore 2,” Sandler’s 2025 big-screen comedy. Sandler also officiated at their wedding.
“Adam is all about loyalty and long-term connections, and he’s well on his way to forging that kind of relationship with Travis and Taylor. That has to drive Ryan absolutely nuts,” a source added.
