Jimmy Fallon turns Donald Trump’s secret catering-container transfer into a Tonight Show set piece
Jimmy Fallon made an unusual entrance on Tuesday’s Tonight Show, arriving on stage inside a catering container as he poked fun at reports surrounding Donald Trump’s departure from Turkey.
Fallon began the segment by referring to reports that Trump faced security concerns linked to Iran after leaving the summit. He then described the escape, saying, “With everything going on in the world, Trump was like, ‘Just leave me in here, okay? Just leave me in. Let me know when the war is over.’”
Fallon then shifted his attention to the wider security arrangements, saying, “Today, everyone was like, ‘Well, at least he has one exit plan.’” He also brought Secretary of State Marco Rubio into the joke, adding, “Trump hid in a catering truck while Marco Rubio hid in Trump’s carry-on bag.”
The host continued the monologue by incorporating jokes about Trump appearing to fall asleep during meetings and his appetite. “The whole thing seemed incredibly stressful, but, thankfully, Trump was asleep for most of it, so it’s okay,” Fallon said. He then imagined officials discovering Trump’s removal from the aircraft. Fallon joked, “Wait, this catering truck was full when we put him in here. What’s…”
Fallon also addressed the reported decision to place Trump on a separate aircraft while staff members and members of the press remained aboard Air Force One. “That’s right, Trump went into a different plane, but he left his staffers and the press to fly on Air Force One,” he said.
