Demi Moore’s Daughter Relocates Following Bitter Custody Battle With Ex

Rumer Willis, the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, is starting a new chapter with her daughter, Louetta. She is doing so after a difficult custody battle with her ex, Derek Richard Thomas. The actress has now moved from Idaho to Nashville, Tennessee, just two months after securing primary physical custody of their 3-year-old daughter.

The 37-year-old actor shared the news on Instagram Wednesday, describing the cross-country move as a “leap of faith.” In the video, movers could be seen packing up her belongings and transporting “two decades of [her] life” to her new home. Willis wrote in the caption, “Moving your whole life across the country is a leap of faith. So is handing it to strangers.”

Then she praised the moving team for making the emotional transition easier, saying, “They carried two decades of my life across 2,000 miles and set it down in Nashville without a scratch,” she wrote.

For Willis, the move comes after months of tension with Derek Richard. In June, the former couple agreed to undergo a custody evaluation while continuing to share joint legal custody of Louetta. The ruling came after Willis accused Thomas of “incessant domestic violence.” Her mother, Demi Moore, also supported her daughter’s claims and described Thomas’ behavior as “aggressive.”

In an older Instagram reel, Willis explained that leaving Los Angeles had been something she had wanted for years. She wrote in the caption, “I’ve been ready for a new adventure and a new place for years, but for reasons only the universe knows, this house wasn’t ready to be done with me.”

“Now, it feels like the house is finally ready to let me go.” She wrote, “So, with the deepest love and gratitude, Lou and I say goodbye to Casablanca and LA and set off for a new adventure.”

Meanwhile, the June custody ruling gave Thomas visitation every other weekend, initially with supervision before transitioning to unsupervised overnight visits. The pair also received court order to attend co-parenting counseling and communicate through a co-parenting app.

Now, as Willis settles into Nashville, she appears ready to focus on what comes next.
