Dylan Meyer recalled having an unexpected first impression of Kristen Stewart when the two met while working on American Ultra in 2013. Meyer, who was later romantically linked to Stewart, said she initially viewed the Twilight star differently from the way the public did.
“I was like, ‘I can’t believe anyone ever let this person be a teen idol. She’s such a deadbeat like me.’ Like, ‘That’s so crazy. She’s been miscast.’”

Meyer said she and Stewart connected when they met on the set of American Ultra.
“At the time we just thought each other were really rad.”
The two did not begin a relationship immediately. Meyer said six or seven years passed before they reconnected and eventually fell in love.
Meyer had also shared an early draft of The Wrong Girls with Stewart in 2013. The project later became a feature film directed by Meyer, with Stewart starring as Frankie.
Meyer and Stewart revisited the script after they became romantically involved. Meyer said they regularly shared their creative work with each other.
Stewart envisioned the project clearly and wanted to play Frankie. She also encouraged Meyer to direct the film.
“I was like, ‘Oh, I think I might make another movie first. That movie’s pretty expensive, I think, for a first film,’” Meyer recalled.
Stewart remained firm about her choices for the project.
“‘I really want to play this part and I really believe you’re the person to direct it.’”
After they completed filming The Wrong Girls, the couple reached another milestone in their Kristen Stewart relationship. Stewart and Meyer, who had become engaged in 2021, married at Casita Del Campo Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles on April 20, 2025. The wedding had 170 guests, according to People.
Meyer said the wedding took place between filming the movie and its post-production period. The timing also came shortly before Stewart traveled to Cannes for The Chronology of Water.
“Now we’ve been married for a year and a half,” Meyer said. “Also we got married in between shooting this movie and doing post on this movie a week before we went to Cannes for her movie The Chronology of Water. So everything has been really, really congested in an electric and also sometimes overwhelming kind of way.”
The Wrong Girls featured Stewart and Alia Shawkat alongside LaKeith Stanfield, Tony Hale, Zack Fox, Kate McKinnon and Geena Davis. Seth Rogen and Kumail Nanjiani also played the titular characters’ cats.
