Taylor Swift and Blake Lively’s friendship fallout may have affected more than just the two stars. According to reports, Swift is said to have stepped down as godmother to Lively and Ryan Reynolds‘ daughters. The reported decision comes as their friendship appears to have broken down. Sources claim Swift wanted a clean break from the family.

According to RadarOnline.com, Swift decided to distance herself from James, Inez and Betty a few months ago. A source said the decision was one of the hardest choices Swift has ever made.

“She loves the girls and it hurt her, but she had no choice given the circumstances,” the source said. “She wanted to make a clean and total break.”

Another source said Swift does not think it is healthy to stay close to the children while having very little contact with their parents.

The reported split follows the fallout between Swift and Lively, 38. Their friendship allegedly became strained during Lively’s legal battle with Justin Baldoni. Swift also did not invite Lively and Reynolds to her July wedding to Travis Kelce.

However, the couple has not publicly confirmed any change in Swift’s relationship with their daughters.

Swift previously confirmed her godmother role in July 2024. She shared an Instagram post while promoting Reynolds’ movie “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Swift joked about Wade Wilson, saying, “Shout out to Wade Wilson, aka my godkids’ sperm donor!”

Reynolds also confirmed her role, stating, “She is the godparent to my daughters.”

Swift had also spent time with the girls, including trick-or-treating and visits to her Rhode Island home.

During her “Eras” Tour stop in Madrid in May 2024, Swift spoke about James, Inez and Betty. She said some of her favorite “Folklore” characters had those names. Swift also used the girls’ names in songs from her 2020 album “Folklore.”

According to the sources, Swift now hopes the girls can decide whether to reconnect with her when they turn 18 and can make their own decisions.
