Ariana Grande just fired back at Donald Trump over a TikTok video, and she did not hold back. The pop star responded after the Trump campaign used one of her songs to push a political message on social media.
Ariana Grande objects to Donald Trump’s use of her song on TikTok
Ariana Grande has publicly condemned Donald Trump for using her music in a TikTok video promoting anti-trans views, Deadline reports. The three-time Grammy winner commented on the Trump campaign’s video on Thursday. The clip used her 2024 single “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)” as its soundtrack.
The TikTok video showed Trump walking on stage at a rally with captions quoting her lyrics. It opened with the line “Me and my truth we sit in silence” from the track. The captions then shifted to anti-trans messaging about men and sports competition.
Grande responded directly in the comments section of the post. “Never use my music again,” she wrote firmly. She also added, “Also, your truth is false.” Her label is currently working to remove the song from the clip entirely.
This marks the second time Grande has confronted the administration over unauthorized music use. She previously called out the White House in June for using her song “Bye” in a pro-ICE video. The singer is currently winding down her Eternal Sunshine Tour across the globe.
Grande joins a growing list of artists who have taken similar action against the Trump administration. Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, and SZA have all objected to unauthorized use recently. Other artists including the Rolling Stones, Neil Young, and Katy Perry have also pushed back previously.
The pattern of disputes highlights ongoing tensions between pop artists and political campaigns over music rights. Radiohead, Kesha, Noah Kahan, Jess Glynne, and Kenny Loggins have all raised similar objections. Artists continue to assert control over how their work appears in political and social media content.
