El-Sayed told Harp on social media that her 80-year-old boss “needs his rest.” This came after Trump accused him of campaigning with a “communist fanatic.”

Donald Trump lambasted Abdul El-Sayed, claiming the Democrat had “recently campaigned with a communist fanatic who says that America deserved 9/11” — possibly referencing progressive influencer Hasan Piker. The president also made unfounded allegations about El-Sayed’s mother financing Osama Bin Laden.
The Senate hopeful fired back on Saturday on X with a direct message to Harp: “Natalie, I think he’s had a little too much iPad for the week. He needs his rest.” The jab references Natalie Harp’s role managing Trump’s social media and crafting his online posts.
El-Sayed is the second Democratic Senate candidate to recently weaponize the Trump-Harp relationship. Senator Jon Ossoff of Georgia did something similar during an August 16 rally when he said Trump “doesn’t want to do the job” and instead wants to “build his ballroom and travel with Natalie.” Ossoff repeated the remarks later in the week, drawing immense backlash from Trump supporters.
Moreover, staffers call Harp the “human printer” because she follows the president with printouts of articles and social media posts throughout the day. The Daily Beast recently revealed letters that evidenced an unusually close dynamic between the two. In one 2023 letter, Harp wrote that she envies women “whose only job seems to be to talk with you and look pretty.” She added that she misses when Trump would call “and we’d talk about everything and nothing.”
Harp joined Donald Trump’s team in 2022 after leaving her position as a One America News host. She now travels regularly with the president and often appears in photographs beside him. As of now, neither she nor the administration has responded to the tweet.
