Queen Camilla Faced an ‘Enormous’ Burden After King Charles’ Diagnosis — Source

A source claims that Queen Camilla shouldered an “enormous burden” after King Charles‘ diagnosis. The news comes as Maggie’s released a new short film this week for its 30th anniversary. For those unaware, Maggie’s is a charity offering free emotional and practical support to people with cancer and their families across the UK. The royal family has close ties to the organization, with Camilla serving as its President.

Source suggests Queen Camilla was reportedly ‘sworn to silence’ after King Charles’ diagnosis

Bound by secrecy over King Charles’ cancer diagnosis, Queen Camilla was desperate to open up when she visited a specialist support centre and spoke with patients and families just days before Buckingham Palace made his illness public on February 5, 2024.

As reported by RadarOnline.com, the Queen Consort has opened up about the emotional toll of keeping the King’s condition private while launching a new Maggie’s centre. She inaugurated the cancer support facility at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, North London.

An insider told the outlet, “Camilla had effectively been sworn to silence. She was carrying this enormous private worry while standing in rooms filled with people confronting cancer themselves. There were moments when she desperately wanted to explain why their stories were affecting her so profoundly, but she knew the King’s diagnosis was not hers to reveal.”

In the film celebrating Maggie’s 30th anniversary, Queen Camilla shared, “Nobody could say anything at the time. That was quite difficult. I almost said something but, you know, I felt that it wasn’t the time to say. (I) looked at everybody who was suffering and all the relations, and I think it made me realise even more how important these places were.”

According to another Palace source, the private circumstances made the Queen’s visit all the more moving. Buckingham Palace has never revealed the specific type of cancer doctors diagnosed King Charles with.

In December, the Palace announced that His Majesty responded extremely well to treatment and entered a precautionary phase. Doctors have since scaled back his treatment, but have not declared him in remission.
