Meghan Markle’s Behavior Led to House Staff Issues in Montecito — Source

Meghan Markle’s “snobbish” behavior reportedly made it tough for the Sussexes to hire and retain house staff in Montecito. As per a new report, the word about the former actress’ elitist behavior spread like wildfire, to the extent that house staff kept their distance from the Sussexes. For those unversed, as per multiple outlets, the Sussexes will reportedly return to the UK by the end of the month for an extended period of time. They will reside in a private, non-royal home while retaining their Montecito and Portugal homes.

Sources say house staff didn’t want to work at Meghan Markle’s Montecito house

Sources attached to Page Six revealed that Meghan Markle had difficulty retaining house staff for her Montecito home due to her rude and entitled behavior. A source dished: “She had trouble hiring maids because a lot of the housekeepers in Montecito didn’t want to work for them. Meghan would interview people herself and could come across as really snobbish and rude. Some of them were so offended by the way she spoke to them that word started getting around.”

Another insider explained that Markle became infamous for her bad attitude to the point that all the maids knew they had to steer clear of the Sussexes. “It got to the point where people would joke that all the maids in Montecito hated them,” the insider chimed in.

In June 2025, four staffers quit Harry and Meghan’s team. Kyle Boulia, the couple’s Los Angeles-based deputy press secretary, and Charlie Gipson, their UK press officer, quietly exited their positions. A source also confirmed that two members of the couple’s private team had departed in recent weeks.

Interestingly, when the Suits star lived in the royal palace as a working royal, she was accused of bullying palace aides. This resulted in the royal palace launching a private investigation to verify the allegations. The palace never issued a statement or clarification about this.

Moreover, an insider shared that Harry and Meghan’s Montecito neighbours are “thrilled” that the couple is moving back to the UK. The source added: “Montecito is a very private, peaceful place, and I think a lot of people here will be happy to see things go back to being a little quieter.”
