The U.S. Secret Service confirmed on Wednesday that it is examining a video broadcast on Iranian state media that appears to target Barron Trump, President Donald Trump’s youngest son. Agency officials said they review all material that could pose a risk to protectees.
What the Secret Service said about the alleged threat involving Barron Trump
Nate Herring, a Secret Service spokesperson, said the agency knows about the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat. He declined to offer further details, stating that the agency does not discuss protective intelligence due to operational security concerns (via Fox News).
The video, which aired on Iranian state television, shows locations linked to Barron Trump’s movements. It ends with a message suggesting a $10 million reward for information about his location. The broadcast follows a pattern of Iranian media content that has threatened Donald Trump and his family. Those threats intensified after the 2020 U.S. airstrike that killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani.
The latest video has come up as the Trump administration pressures other countries to cut economic ties with Tehran. U.S. naval forces also continue operations near the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route that Iran has threatened to disrupt. In July, the president switched planes secretly in Turkey after officials received intelligence about a possible Iranian surface-to-air missile threat.
The Secret Service has not linked that event to the video involving Donald Trump’s son Barron, but both incidents evidence the ongoing tension between Washington and Tehran. Matt Quinn, Deputy Director of the Secret Service, told reporters last month that Iran has publicly stated its desire to kill President Trump.
Moreover, the Secret Service rarely comments on active protective intelligence matters. Spokespeople typically confirm only that threats are assessed and addressed through standard procedures. Herring’s statement followed that approach, giving confirmation without revealing details about security measures or investigative steps.
Barron Trump has maintained a low public profile compared to other members of the Trump family. He is a student and has appeared at select public events alongside his father. The Secret Service provides protection for the president’s immediate family members, including adult children.
