Blake Lively uses a hair dryer to defrost food and dry icing, says Prue
The 86-year-old appeared on the UK show This Morning on Tuesday, Aug. 25, where Prue Leith revealed that Blake Lively uses a hair dryer on her food.
Leith said, “She uses a hair dryer to dry anything that needs drying … it speeds things up a bit.”
Hearing this, co-host Josie Gibson asked whether Blake Lively also uses a hair dryer to defrost food. The former Great British Bake Off judge agreed that she does.
Leith said, “Yes, and she dries the icing with a hair dryer,” she continued, “She’s a really good cook … she was such good fun and the crew loved her, and I think my husband is totally in love with her.”
The secret may be surprising, but Prue Leith and Blake Lively are actually close friends. Their friendship began in June 2023 when the actress made a surprise visit to Leith’s former show, The Great British Bake Off, with her husband Ryan Reynolds and their children.
Reynolds’ Deadpool was also being filmed at the same studio where Leith’s cooking show was filmed.
After that, Prue Leith invited Blake and her family to her home and farm in the Cotswolds, where they later enjoyed a countryside retreat.
For context, Prue Leith stepped down as a judge on The Great British Bake Off in early 2026, with the decision reportedly allowing her to enjoy her summers and spend more time with her family. The show will continue through September 2026, but the African-born chef, who judged the series for nine seasons, will not return this time.
