Season 30 of Dancing with the Stars has been exciting, and unpredictable. Pro Cheryl Burke commented that this season was like Survivor. DWTS pro Jenna Johnson was paired with pop singer Jojo Siwa as the first same-sex partners in the showâs history. They are just killing every single routine.
When influencer Olivia Jade was cast on the show, there was a backlash. Oliviaâs parents, actress Lori Loughlin and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, were involved in the college admission scandal. They both served time in jail.
DWTS host Tyra Banks defended Olivia. Olivia and her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, earned praise from the judges week after week for their connection and attention to technique. But there were other whispers about this dancing duo.
When a Tik-Tok user created and posted a video that hinted that a contestant was hooking up with her married pro partner, Olivia clapped back. Although no names were mentioned, and the video was later deleted, Olivia posted her own Tik-Tok response. âIâm just going to be super blunt and straight up, and just say that Val and I are not hooking up,â Olivia said. âWeâve never hooked up. This is a complete rumor; we are genuinely good friends and I adore his wife.â
Val is married to fellow dance pro Jenna. They tied the knot on April 13, 2019, in Rancho Palo Verdes, California. The dance floor at their wedding reception must have been insane since many of the DWTS pros were in attendance.
Jenna said that these rumors are just part of the job. âItâs not a new thing for me and Val because weâve been on the show for many years, and weâve experienced this many times,â Jenna explained.

According to TVLine, Olivia and Val were sent packing in a dreaded double-elimination just shy of the semi-finals. The couple performed an Argentine Tango that failed to wow the judging panel. They were automatically eliminated because they received the lowest combination of viewer votes and judgesâ scores.
Page Six reported that Val said this may be his last season while co-hosting Entertainment Tonight with Oliva on November 9, 2021. âIâve always been very clear about coming back on the show. I love the show. I love being on it. I am so grateful for the opportunity,â Val stated. âIs this my last season? Probably. Probably.â I will be devastated if Val doesnât salsa back to the ballroom.
âI have no regrets about my tenure on the show. I have no regrets about the season. I couldnât have asked for a better partner [Olivia Jade] to end it with,â Val remarked. The dance pro, who has competed on the show for 17 seasons, was quizzed about what could possibly keep him on the show. âLife is dynamic,â he replied.
âThereâs no burned bridges, thereâs nothing but gratitude, again, with the production, with the show. I hope Iâve served the show and this show has definitely changed my life, so itâs mutually love, and weâll see what happens in the future,â Val shared.
But on November 8, 2021, Val told Page Six and other reporters via Zoom that he didnât know if he planned to return to DWTS. âI donât know. Thatâs a long time from now,â Val stated.

Val also raved about Olivia. âIâm very proud of her, Iâm proud of us and this season,â the dance pro remarked. âIt meant a lot to me to be in a position to help somebody. Iâm grateful for that opportunity, and grateful that it worked, too,â he added.
Val continued, âWe did win some folks over. We did get a chance to shed a different light on her and show her in a different spotlight, and then also show that she earned it.â
Val became a pro partner on Season 13 of DWTS. He is a two-time mirrorball winner, taking home the shiny trophy in 2015 with Rumer Willis and in 2016 with Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez.
He also discussed his plans on Oliviaâs podcast, Conversations with Olivia Jade, calling his possible DWTS future âTBD.â âIâm definitely gonna keep dancing, for sure. I think youâre my 18th partner, and I built different relationships with all of them ⌠how many of these meaningful journeys can I emotionally go through?â Val commented. âItâs a lot, and youâll understand what Iâm saying when this is over, because youâll have this huge void in your life.â
I am crossing my fingers that if, and when, DWTS returns, Val will be in the ballroom.
