Tori Spelling Files for Divorce From Dean McDermott

It’s truly the end of an era. Tori Spelling has filed for divorce from Dean McDermott after 18 years of marriage. The news comes amid a myriad of financial and health issues for Tori.

This divorce has been a long time coming. According to the court documents reviewed by TMZ, Tori listed their date of separation as June 17, 2023. She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split, and there might be a lengthy court battle ahead for the two former reality stars.

The end of Tori and Dean

Tori and Dean’s relationship has been playing out in the headlines and on reality TV for years. They first got married back in 2006. The following year, they had a show on Oxygen called Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood.

In 2014, Tori and Dean’s relationship started to fall apart after Dean got caught up in a cheating scandal. Dean went to rehab, and then a few years later, they started making headlines again for their various debts. Tori owed thousands of dollars to American Express, and there were tax liens. It wasn’t good, but throughout this entire saga, they somehow found the time to have five kids together.

In June 2023, Dean shared on Instagram that he and Tori had separated. He quickly deleted the post, leaving the status of their relationship up for speculation. When Tori filed for divorce, however, she listed that same day as their separation date.

Tori and Dean share five kids, all under the age of 18. It’s not clear if they signed a prenuptial agreement. Either way, it can be assumed that their financial situation is drastically different today from what it was in 2006 when they first married. Just last year, Tori and her kids were living in a motel after discovering a mold infestation in their home.

In Tori’s court filing, she asked to be awarded spousal support. She also asked for the courts to terminate Dean’s ability to ask her for spousal support. In addition to that, she has requested sole physical custody of all five of their kids. She said they could divvy up any of their other assets in due time.
