Blake Lively’s Ex Reveals What It Was Like Dating Her

Penn Badgley, the ex-boyfriend of Blake Lively, revealed how he felt while dating his “Gossip Girl” co-star while being on the show for six years. The actor recently appeared as a guest on Alex Cooper’s podcast, “Call Her Daddy,” which aired on April 23. During their conversation, Badgley candidly discussed how he struggled to separate his real life from the hit teen show.

Penn Badgley explains why it was a ‘struggle’ to date Blake Lively

Penn Badgley opened up about his struggles when he dated “Gossip Girl” lead star Blake Lively in the new episode of “Call Her Daddy.” During the podcast, Alex Cooper asked the actor whether it was hard to juggle real life and his professional life on “Gossip Girl” as there were a lot of parallels between his character, Dan Humphrey, and him. At that time, Badgely was dating his co-star, Lively, in real life. Meanwhile, Dan Humphrey was also in a romantic relationship with Lively’s character, Serena van der Woodsen.

In response to this question, Badgley said, “That’s a great question,” before confessing that “it was the struggle.” The actor then explained the difference between working on a film and a television series. He emphasized the fact that a show goes on for a long period. Thus, it becomes a part of an actor’s life for a long time. He also revealed that due to the “nature of that show” and “celebrity culture at that time,” he got asked for dating advice or similar questions in many interviews.

Pen Badgley elaborated, “Even though no one may be actually asking you to do this, you feel like you’re constantly needing to prove yourself in some manner. Otherwise, what are you doing?” He continued, “When you’re in this one role for a long time, the aspect of celebrity being a part of it, a huge part of it.” Badgley said, “There is not enough separation, I think, for anybody. You’re seen as this person, you’re called their name out on the street.”
