Below Deck Down Under Season 3 is coming to an end on Bravo. This season has been one for the books, featuring two returning yachties at the side of Captain Jason Chambers. However, not all storylines landed equally, as this season proved.
All frustrating narratives aside, BDDU Season 3 featured a (mostly) solid cast. From this group of yachties, storylines showcasing strong work ethics, sweet boatmances, silly bromances, and tight bonds filled the screen. Regarding all of these aspects, these are our top four favorite storylines from BDDU Season 3.
Marina Marcondes de Barros finally getting recognized for her work ethic on Below Deck Down Under Season 3

Marina Marcondes de Barros worked her tail off this season on BDDU. However, she was so good at laundry and housekeeping duties that her department head, Lara Rigby, rarely let her try her hand at service.
When Marina brought this fact up, Lara reiterated how strong Marina was. Then, Lara explained that if she let Marina come upstairs and work on the service side of life, things might start falling apart in the housekeeping area. Finally, Captain Jason got through to Lara and her anxious feelings, resulting in Lara relenting and placing Marina on service detail.
Once Marina began working with the guests, she thrived. The guests loved her. In contrast, it quickly became crystal clear how efficiently Marina worked down in the dungeons of housekeeping. Taking her spot, Brianna Duffield struggled to get through her tasks, proving that Marina was a powerhouse with a seemingly never-ending amount of energy on this team.
Lara finally understood that Captain Jason was right. Therefore, she promoted Marina to the position of second stew.
Marina Marcondes de Barros and Nicolas Cattelan’s sweet Below Deck Down Under boatmance

Before Nicolas Cattelan joined this series, Marina was engaged in a toxic flirtation with Wihan du Toit. However, Wihan had his eye on many females, which made Marina feel pretty sh*tty. But when Wihan got the ax, causing our boy Nic to come on board, Marina finally found herself a good man.
Nic only has eyes for Marina. “Marina’s adorable,” he said in one of his first confessionals. “Growing up, I did not approach women. I mean, my first kiss was at 19. I often say thank God for feminism because then they ask me out a couple of times,” he hysterically quipped, somewhat blushing from just thinking about Marina.
Thankfully, Marina also adores the quirky, self-described nerdy Nic. Similarly, these two yachties have made fans’ list of favorite crew members from this season following their endearing picnic date. Viewers only wish Nic had entered filming earlier, as his supportive boatmance with Marina is one of our favorite storylines from BDDU Season 3.
The Below Deck Down Under Season 3 boys’ bathroom chats
Harry van Vliet did not get along with Wihan. So, when Wihan was present, the deck team lacked heart. There was no cohesion or fun narratives to report on. Instead, the deck team was just kinda there, doing their jobs with a side of frustrations where Wihan was concerned.
Once Wihan was gone, Nate Salmon arrived to take his place. Nic also joined BDDU during this episode, giving Harry two fun boys to film alongside on Bravo. Whereas Harry, Nic, and Nate are concerned, zero drama has ever entered their lighthearted, often ridiculous chats.
During their crew nights out, these boys have started a little club that meets in the bathroom, best known as the boys’ bathroom chat. Once inside, Harry, Nate, and Nic often giggle and chat about their crushes, offering each other advice and support as needed. Then, they emerge and join their crew back at the table or the dance floor, fully refreshed from their moment of peace with their bros. This bromance triangle that meets in exotic bathrooms is a gem of a storyline on BDDU Season 3.
Harry van Vliet and Captain Jason Chambers’ bond on Below Deck Down Under Season 3

Not only has Harry bonded with his newly recalibrated deck team, but he has also deepened his bond with Captain Jason. Harry first started working underneath this fine man in Season 2. Season 2, however, was met with two dark storylines surrounding sexual assault, which saw this cast bonding like never before.
Thankfully, Bravo brought Harry back for Season 3. During this second season as a duo, he and Captain Jason are tighter than ever. When Harry scores dates with Bri, Captain Jason supplies him with outfits that help his vibes. When Harry finally received a promotion to lead deckhand, Captain Jason smiled, happy to see Harry advancing in this industry.
But when Harry messes up, Captain Jason remains by his side. These two men have even shared a confessional, which never happens in this franchise. And we hope this duo remains intact moving forward, as these two men create great storylines on BDDU.
Below Deck Down Under is streaming on Peacock. BDDU also streams on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
