Amanda Batula joined Summer House in Season 2. She’s a veteran of the show now, alongside her husband, Kyle Cooke. But that doesn’t always translate into prime seating at the reunions. Indeed, the swimsuit designer was shocked by her placement to film the reunion for Season 9.
The event was filmed on April 24. The reunion looks and seating chart were released to the public on the same day. Naturally, the more engaging cast members are seated closer to host Andy Cohen. For her part, Amanda was surprised by her placement at the left hand of the Bravo executive producer.
Amanda Batula thought she’d be sat on the end during the Summer House Season 9 reunion
The Summer House star told StyleCaster how she found out about her seating, and her reaction to it. The cast members got their assignments the day of filming.
“I was flabbergasted. One of the crew members was like, ‘Oh, Amanda, you’ll like your seat. I was like, ‘Great, I’m gonna be on the end,’” Amanda shared. “When I walked out, and I was first chair, I was like, ‘Why?’ It feels like a lot of pressure. I knew people would have feelings about it. Not my cast, but the fans. I was like, ‘I don’t really want to sit here.’ But I was super grateful. I love Andy, but I was truly shocked.”
Amanda came up with her own theory as to why she got first chair, since she was not given an explanation. She’s certainly not one to bring a lot of drama necessarily, but she’s a fan favorite nonetheless. But the reality TV star thinks that it mimics coming into her own during the season. She’s also seen major success with her swimsuit line.
“I didn’t even ask. I just took what I was given, and I said, ‘I’m not gonna ask questions. Don’t revoke my privilege,’” Amanda said. “I like to think that this was my breakout season in terms of separating myself from [husband] Kyle [Cooke]. Kyle normally always gets first chair. So for me, it was kind of like an F you to Kyle.”
For his part, the Loverboy founder “was happy” for his wife. She revealed, “He was like, ‘You deserve it. It’s about time. I was like, ‘Yeah, right, you’re just saying that because you have to.”
