Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s Movie Reaches Dead End Due To Cash Crunch, Says ‘Source’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s movie might never happen due to a cash crunch. In another massive blow after their scrapped Netflix deal, their plans for a feature film debut, an adaptation of Carley Fortune’s popular romance novel “Meet Me at the Lake,” allegedly reached a dead end. Harry and Markle had previously announced that they would be producing the upcoming project on the streaming service, but a source claimed the movie hit a roadblock because no one’s paying for it.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s movie doesn’t have a director or even a cast, says ‘source’

Rob Shuter #ShuterScoop exclusively learned that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s movie fell through long before the cameras could roll. The project reportedly came to a standstill due to a lack of funds, as they failed to secure financial backing. A source claimed that the film doesn’t have a director or even a cast. Harry and Markle had intended to make their feature film debut with the adaptation of Carley Fortune’s “Meet Me at the Lake.”

The Sussexes allegedly couldn’t “get anyone to open their wallets” for them. They were unable to secure the $25 million funding they needed to make the movie, despite Netflix paying $3 million for the rights. The report suggested that Archewell Productions had intended to make its major Hollywood leap with the film. Moreover, a veteran studio executive revealed that the production house believed Markle’s “name alone would attract money,” but things didn’t go as they had planned.

Before the news of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s movie setback surfaced, reports had stated that their Netflix deal would end in September. The couple had signed a multi-year $100 million agreement with the streaming giant, but the contract will end later this year without renewal. Shuter’s sources alleged that they are “desperate for a win” before their contract concludes. One insider claimed that the Sussexes’ film won’t progress without the funds they need.
