Liam Neeson Has No Clue What Labubu Is: ‘Can We Eat It?’

Liam Neeson has unexpectedly gone viral for not knowing what a Labubu is. During a promotional interview for his new comedy The Naked Gun, Neeson was introduced to the wildly popular collectible, Labubu, and his reaction has left fans howling.

Liam Neeson is confused about Labubus

During a promotional interview with Metro for his latest comedy, The Naked Gun, Neeson was introduced to the fuzzy, wide-eyed Labubu. A collectible toy that has taken the world and social media by storm. With the plush creature held up for him to examine, the Taken star blinked and quipped, “Okay… it’s a fluffy doll or can you eat it?”

The interviewer went on to explain Labubu’s global appeal and skyrocketing demand, mentioning that the Hong Kong-born character has made its creator a billionaire and even caused near-bans in the UK due to people fighting over it.

Labubu, the mischievous character from The Monsters series by artist Kasing Lung, is a hot commodity across Asia. Sightings of Labubu with celebrities across the world has only fueled the craze. Yet, none of this seemed to register with the 73-year-old actor. When the interviewers shared that he owns a pink Labubu, Neeson responded, “Doesn’t surprise me. I’ve never had them, no.”

Shown another variation called Lafufu, a bald version of Labubu, Neeson took a stab at guessing what it was. “An early drawing of E.T.,” he said, before adding, “And without the genitals.”

While Neeson’s Labubu ignorance has gone viral, fans are also talking about his latest role in The Naked Gun reboot. Stepping into the shoes of the bumbling detective Frank Drebin Jr., Neeson has ventured into comedy for the first time in his decades-long career.

Despite his iconic action-hero status, the actor admitted his days of high-octane stunts are numbered. “I’m 73, for f—’s sake,” he said to Variety. “I don’t want to be doing that stuff with a Zimmer frame.”
