Heavy metal legend Brent Hinds was killed in a motorbike accident on the night of August 20. The former Mastodon lead guitarist and founding member was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

The rocker unresponsive at the scene. He was rushed to the Grady Marcus Trauma Center, where he tragically passed away. A medical report listed his injuries as a “fracture in the left leg along with multiple lacerations and abrasions”, as per The Sun. His death was confirmed by the Fulton County medical examiner’s office. He was 51 years old.
A statement by the Atlanta Police Department read: “Officers located an unresponsive male who was involved in the collision. The female operating the BMW SUV failed to yield while turning left and collided into the male victim who was operating the Harley Davidson.”
After 25 years with Mastodon, Brent actually left the band earlier this year. While Mastodon’s official announcement stated it had been a mutual decision, Brent disagreed. Additionally, in an Instagram comment he said he had been kicked out of the band. In a separate comment he stated: “I won’t miss being in a band with horrible humans”.
Further, the band paid tribute to their former member in an Instagram statement, which read: “We are heartbroken, shocked, and still trying to process the loss of this creative force with whom we’ve shared so many triumphs, milestones, and the creation of music that has touched the hearts of so many.”
His death comes just one month after the passing of fellow heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne.
