Being a king comes with a lot of responsibilities, and Prince William and Kate Middleton are well aware of this. Due to this, the royal couple reportedly “delayed” telling their eldest son, Prince George, about his future as king of the United Kingdom to let him savor his childhood days. However, an expert has advised that while preparing his eldest son for the kingship, William should choose his words carefully to make the little boy less fearful of his responsibilities.
Experts advise Prince William to choose his words carefully when discussing monarchy with Prince George
After Prince William becomes king, the next heir to the throne will be his eldest son, Prince George. However, the 12-year-old was not aware of his future as king till he was 7 years old. According to royal author Robert Lacey, the Prince and Princess of Wales decided not to divulge such details to their child for his “normal childhood.”
“William deliberately delayed this news until the last possible moment,” Lacey told PEOPLE. This act of William, as per the author, not only shows a father’s “special care and thoughtfulness,” but also “tells us something about how William felt about the weight of the crown.”
However, the royal author believes William should be careful about his choice of words when discussing monarchy with George to make him less anxious about his future role. William should use “words like ‘destiny’ rather than ‘duty.’ ‘Duty’ has a sense of being trapped; ‘destiny’ has a sense of choice,” said Lacey.
Additionally, a source also revealed that the royal couple will ensure that George completes his schooling before he becomes the next heir. They “want him to focus on having freedom before giving him any royal titles,” noted a palace insider. That is why, if needed, William may delay bestowing George with the Prince of Wales title if he doesn’t complete his education. But for now, George is enjoying his carefree days. He will soon be returning to Lambrook School for his final year alongside his siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
