Dancing with the Stars returns on Tuesday, September 16 at 8 p.m. ET. The premiere will air on ABC and can be streamed live on Disney+. Many of your favorite pros will be gracing the ballroom once more, eager to take home the coveted Mirrorball trophy. While the ever-shifting lineup of stars keeps the show fresh, longtime fans tune in to see who our favorite pros are paired up with. After all, the show would cease to exist without their hard work and talent.
Lately, fans have been curious about the salary of the pros. If you’re in that camp, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s what you need to know.
How much money do Dancing with the Stars pros make?
According to Us Weekly, pros start out making roughly $1,200 an episode. More seasoned pros make closer to $5,000 an episode. A number that pales in comparison to the stars’ starting salary. According to Variety, stars “make $125,000 for the show’s rehearsal period and their first two weeks on the air.” The amount they make per week increases the longer they are on the show. DWTS pros are able to increase their income with some pretty lucrative side hustles. Many of them work as influencers, scoring brand deals with big name companies.
How much money do Dancing with the Stars winners make?
Unlike other reality TV programs like Survivor or Big Brother, DWTS winners don’t receive a big check for winning the Mirrorball trophy. Pro Jenna Johnson spilled the tea on The Morning After podcast, telling the hosts that winning doesn’t guarantee a massive payday.
“If you win, it’s not like you get a million dollars,” she shared. “You’re just getting a cute trophy together.”
However, she noted that your pay increases the longer you are on the show, so there is certainly an incentive to make it to the end.
“Whoever makes it to the finale, you all get paid up until then,” she said. “And you do get a nice bonus.”
Dancing with the Stars is available to stream on Disney+.
