After nine seasons, Chrisley Knows Best came to an end as Todd Chrisley’s financial crimes were exposed by the federal government. He and his wife, Julie Chrisley, got locked up for bank fraud, tax evasion, and conspiracy to defraud the United States. They would have gotten away with it if it weren’t for that meddling FBI, and Todd was ready to retire from reality TV before things went downhill.
Todd Chrisley says he had “started winding down” on Chrisley Knows Best
Of course, it’s easy to dream about quitting your job when you aren’t paying taxes, but Todd recently shared with People how he planned on leaving Chrisley Knows Best after Season 10. As time went on, he stopped feeling excited about the show.
“Chrisley Knows Best was a wonderful show and still is,” Todd began. “I mean, you can tell in how many times it’s airing and reruns and whatever. I’m grateful for what the show brought us, but to whom much is given, much is required.”
According to Todd, he started feeling annoyed with production because they were making the family present themselves in one way on screen when they “were actually having to live another way.” Todd said he “started winding down” as his frustrations deepened.
“This was going to be my last contract that I was going to renew with USA Network for Chrisley Knows Best,” he claimed. “And I was working on my last season.”
Todd said that the rest of the family was “fighting” with him to do another season. He didn’t want to budge, but ultimately, it didn’t matter. The FBI investigation wound up pushing the show off the air.
“And I’m fighting with them, saying, ‘No, I’m not. No, I’m not. You guys have been doing it as long as I have. Keep going if that’s what you want to do,'” Todd said. “And then God kind of said, ‘Okay, I’ll fix that for you. None of you can do it.'”
Now, he’s back on TV with the Lifetime series, The Chrisleys: Back to Reality. Cameras were rolling the moment he stepped out of prison. He picked up right where he left off.
