Alec Baldwin is set for a deposition this week over the fatal shooting on his movie set, Rust. But the actor clearly has other ideas. Reports say he is pushing back on the scheduled appearance and setting his own terms.
Alec Baldwin won’t attend the Rust shooting deposition until a judge approves his demands

Alec fired the gun that shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust in 2021. He’s supposed to be attending a deposition to be questioned about the event on Friday. It was scheduled by Serge Svetnoy, a gaffer on the film who is suing Baldwin for emotional distress after witnessing the shooting.
However, according to US Weekly, the actor is refusing to attend. Documents filed by his legal time state that the deposition is at odds with a previous agreement. Under that agreement, he would give only one deposition, which would be used for this case and another pending case related to the film. But they say the plaintiffs in the other lawsuit didn’t go for that arrangement. Baldwin says he won’t sit for any depositions until the court okays the idea that he only has to be questioned once for both cases.
Halyna Hutchins was tragically killed on the Rust set when a gun Alec was holding accidentally fired a live round. Alec originally faced criminal charges over the shooting, but the charges were dismissed due to alleged misconduct by prosecutors. The movie’s armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in March 2024. She was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
The actor is said to be facing money troubles, with reports that wife Hilaria Baldwin was “forced” to join Dancing with the Stars to ease their burden.
