The news is out – Camp Rock 3 is a go. The third installment of the Disney Channel fave has been confirmed by the Jonas Brothers. Before the news was released, Demi Lovato hinted that we might see some new faces in the lead roles. It seems the star will not be reprising her role in the series.
Demi Lovato suggests a “new generation” would film Camp Rock 3
Camp Rock 3 was confirmed yesterday. Joe Jonas, Nick Jonas, and Kevin Jonas confirmed that the movie is currently in production. In a video posted to social media, the brothers recreated a scene from the beloved movie series. It was posted with the caption “Good morning campers.”
Joe also posted a video referring to himself by his character’s name – Shane Gray – and showing a dock the read Camp Rock 3. The movie is currently being shot in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Joe caused a buzz last month when he seemed to leak the news about the new Disney flick.
Prior to the brothers confirming the movie, Demi Lovato gave a few hints about the casting. Speaking to Andy Cohen on WWHL, she said: “I saw that Joe said something. And I’m really excited for the new generation to take the lead. And yeah, you’ll just have to wait and see.”
Demi is serving as executive producer, but won’t be reprising her role as Mitchie Torres. Maria Canals-Barrera is reuniting with the Jonas Brothers in the new movie. The returning actors will be joined by new faces including Liamani Segura, Malachi Barton, and Lumi Pollack.
A press release issued yesterday describes the movie’s plot: “The story picks up when Connect 3 lose their opening act for a major reunion tour, returning to their beloved Camp Rock to discover the next big thing,”
