Luke Berry and Madelein Perez are one of two returning couples featured on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Season 7. The couple first appeared on 90 Day Fiancé: Love in Paradise Season 4. Luke met Madelein on a dating app while vacationing in Colombia, and the two immediately hit it off. While Luke and Madelein had a lot of chemistry, they also numerous problems.
A year later, Luke and Madelein have returned for The Other Way Season 7. Luke is finally ready to move to Colombia permanently to be with Madelein. Before Luke even left, however, things began going south. While Luke has high hopes for his future in Colombia, things are currently not looking good for him and Madelein.
Luke Berry and Madelein Perez faced troubles during their time on 90 Day: Love in Paradise Season 4
Luke and Madelein’s relationship problems were first revealed during Love in Paradise Season 4. While it was clear that Luke and Madelein had a lot of chemistry, they also found themselves in a lot of drama. Finances were an issue for the couple from the start. Luke felt that Madelein expected too much financially from him at times, while Madelein was annoyed with some of Luke’s spending habits. When Luke asked Madelein for a pre-nup agreement, she became even more upset.
At one point, one of Luke’s friends accused Madelein of cheating. While the rumor ultimately wasn’t true, it did cause stress between the couple. Luke and Madelein were able to overcome their problems and stay together, although distance became an issue as well. Eventually, Luke had to return to America for work, which Madelein wasn’t happy about.
Luke left everything behind in America to move to Colombia, including his job
While almost everyone has past relationship problems, Luke and Madelein’s current situation seems to be setting them up for failure. Luke has decided to leave his entire life in America behind to move to Colombia for Madelein.
While Luke has good intentions, he’s sacrificing a lot. He’s leaving behind his family and friends, as well as his job. Luke has been open with viewers about his financial troubles, so leaving a job is a big deal. Since Luke is in a lot of debt and doesn’t have a job in Colombia yet, this could lead to some serious issues.
Madelein keeps pressuring Luke to spend money, despite him being in debt
To make matters worse, Luke is constantly being pressured financially by Madelein. While Madelein successfully runs her own salon, she still asks Luke for a lot of money. This began on Love in Paradise and has continued on The Other Way. For instance, Madelein asked Luke to pay for her to enter their wedding in a helicopter. The wedding alone is a financial burden, but extravagant requests like this put even more pressure on Luke.
Since Luke is in debt from several bad investments, he doesn’t have money to throw away on extra luxuries like helicopter rides. Madeleine doesn’t seem to understand this and continues to ask Luke for more money. Finances have been an issue for Luke and Madelein in the past and could very well continue being one. If the couple can’t compromise on money, their relationship might not last much longer.
Madelein blocked Luke hours before his move to Colombia
The biggest red flag in Luke and Madelein’s relationship on The Other Way has been Madelein blocking Luke. Hours before his flight to Colombia, Luke discovered that Madelein had blocked him. They had been arguing, and instead of talking things out, Madelein resorted to blocking her fiancé.
Blocking someone, especially a romantic partner, is a huge deal. Since Madelein knew that Luke was about to leave for Colombia, it was extremely wrong of her to block him. If she was that upset with him, she could’ve communicated that to him. If Madelein was willing to block Luke before moving to Colombia, she could continue to behave similarly in the future. Blocking a partner is never a recipe for success in a relationship. While Luke and Madelein are trying to make their relationship work, they ultimately may not be able to.
