Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Reveal Next Visit to NYC — Includes Huge Milestone for the Couple

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be heading to the Big Apple for a worthwhile cause.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been incredibly passionate about mental health for years. It will be a momentous occasion for the royal couple in New York City, who are receiving the Project Healthy Minds Humanitarians of the Year Award on October 9. Harry and Meghan have worked tirelessly to make the online world a safer place for families and their children.

The day after that, they’ll be on hand for the Project Healthy Minds’ fourth annual  World Mental Health Day Festival. On that occasion, their Lost Screen Memorial, unveiled in April, will be on display. At that event two years ago Harry and Meghan launched The Parents’ Network. It aims to support families whose lives have been impacted by the effects of online harm.

Mental health is a cause that Harry and Meghan have vehemently advocated for.

In a statement to People, the couple said: “Working with families and young people to prioritize safety online has been some of the most meaningful work of our lives.” They say their two children are the inspiration for their advocacy in the mental health sector. Their charity the Archwell Foundation has a mission is to show up and do good.

October 9 is the World Mental Health Day Gala for Project Healthy Minds. Harry and Meghan’s Lost Screen Memorial is in memory of kids who lost their lives because of the harms of social media.

Harry has notably given back to numerous charities designed to empower kids. Earlier this month, he donated over £1 million to BBC Children in Need in support of disadvantaged children and young people across the U.K. The prince attended a U.K. event for the Diana Award earlier this month. The group named after his late mother honors young people who work to improve the lives of others.
