After years of talking about it, Rob Halford finally got his longtime partner to commit to marriage.
It’s not new news for the Judas Priest frontman or his partner, Thomas.
“We got married by the cactus outside on December the something or other, about a year or so ago,” Rob revealed. The couple had been together for over 30 years before finally agreeing to take the plunge.
Last year, Judas Priest released its 19th studio album titled Invincible Shield.

While Rob and Thomas had been happily dating for decades, deciding to get married proved complicated. The Judas Priest singer says his partner had a very conservative background, which made the whole idea of marriage tricky. Eventually, though, Thomas was able to go ahead with a wedding, putting his love for Rob first.
In a recent interview with Jake Shears on his show Queer the Music Rob said the wedding was “simple” but also “beautiful.” The heavy metal singer adds that he’d repeatedly proposed the idea of marriage to Thomas before he eventually stopped asking. On one of their traditional night walks together, though, Thomas had a change of heart, agreeing that marriage was the next step in their relationship.
“It was a very simple ceremony, obviously me and him, and an officiant, as they call them, who are legalized to marry people,” said Rob. The service was private, with only his band manager Jim Silvia and Jim’s wife attending.
The legendary singer revealed in 1998 that he was gay. He did it while expressing concern that he might lose a significant portion of his fan base as a result. By doing so, he says that he cannot return to certain places in the world for fear of backlash.
For a time last year, his band’s album, Invincible Shield, reached number one on the US Billboard charts for Top Hard Rock Albums.
