Christina Haack’s whirlwind romance with third husband, Josh Hall, made a splash in more ways than one … with him throwing her engagement ring in the pool.
In a new interview, Christina opened up about her relationship with Josh, whom she met in February 2021, and the red flags she noticed at the start of their romance.
Christina Haack turned down Josh Hall’s first proposal
Speaking to PEOPLE, Christina – who gained fame on HGTV’s Flip or Flop with first husband, Tarek El Moussa – claimed Josh didn’t respond well when she declined his initial proposal. “The first time he proposed, I said no, and he threw the ring in the pool,” she said. “That was probably red flag number one.”
“We weren’t getting along super great even then,” she continued. “When things were good, they were good, but it just felt like I wasn’t quite ready.” Christina added that she “doesn’t remember exactly” what she said to Josh, but it was something along the lines of “this is not the right time.”
Despite this, Christina and Josh later got engaged, sharing the news in September 2021 on Instagram. In the post, they showed off a diamond ring as they enjoyed a sunset dinner in Los Cabos, Mexico.
A month later, the pair tied the knot in secret, although they didn’t reveal they’d wed for another six months. Their marriage didn’t last, however. In July 2024, Josh filed for divorce after less than three years of marriage.
In response to Christina’s claim about the engagement ring and pool, a representative for Josh told PEOPLE that he “has no clue what Christina is talking about.”
