Diddy Wants To Address Court Before His Sentencing

Once a performer, always a performer. Diddy is due to be sentenced tomorrow in the case that has unraveled his empire. But before he finds out how long he’ll be behind bars, he wants to share some things with the court. And turns out, that’s not the musician’s only request…

Sean “Diddy” Combs will find out his punishment for the prostitution-related charges on Friday. But it seems the disgraced media mogul has some feelings to air before the judge has the final word.

Diddy is due to be sentenced on two charges under the Mann Act for allegedly transporting male escorts across state lines. In court documents, the rapper’s attorney says that “The sentencing proceeding holds significant importance for Mr. Combs.” He adds that: “He wishes to appear before the Court, address Your Honor, and allocute in the most dignified and respectful fashion possible,” per TMZ.

While we can only speculate on what Diddy is planning to say, it’s likely he’ll use the opportunity to highlight any steps he’s taken toward rehabilitation. There have been reports that the mogul has acted as a mentor to other inmates during his year in jail. He has also been enrolled in the STOP Program, a course aimed at addressing and preventing sexual assault, domestic abuse, and dating violence.

One person who isn’t buying Diddy’s alleged attempts at rehabilitation is Cassie. She recently wrote a letter to the judge, describing her ex as “cruel” and “manipulative”.

Addressing the court isn’t the rapper’s only request. His team have also asked the judge to let him wear forego the jail jumpsuit and wear street clothes instead.

Diddy faces up to 20 years in prison. The prosecution is said to be pushing for a term of at least 11 years.
