Prince William Makes Bold Declaration About the Monarchy’s Future: ‘Change Is on My Agenda’

Prince William is planning to make big changes when he becomes king. He opened up on a recent TV appearance about his desire to usher in monarchy 2.0. And according to a royal biographer, the Duke of Cornwall is already showing that he means business.

Prince William’s vision “shouldn’t be seen as criticism of King Charles”

William isn’t a regular prince, he’s a cool prince. To prove it, he recently made an appearance on The Reluctant Traveler series with none other than Eugene Levy.

Over a pretty casual conversation at the pub, the Prince of Wales explains that he’s looking forward to updating the monarchy. He said: “I think it’s safe to say that change is on my agenda. Change for good. I enjoy change; I don’t fear it. That’s the bit that excites me — the idea of being able to bring some change….I want to question things more. Are we still doing and having the most impact we could be having?”

Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith says William has shown he’s serious about change just by appearing on the show. She told People: “It was a savvy move by William. By choosing a Canadian comedian as his interlocutor, William seems to be signaling that he wants to break out of the conventional mold.”

This desire for change isn’t some kind of rebellion against his dad, though. Historian Robert Lacey told the publication: “This shouldn’t be seen as criticism of King Charles. He is very close to his father and has been his most important supporter.”

William also made a rare mention of Prince Harry during the show. The pair have been estranged for the past few years in the wake of a rift that’s thought to have begun in 2018.
