Geralt of Rivia is back … kind of. Netflix viewers have defended Liam Hemsworth following the release of The Witcher season four trailer.
The new trailer showed Liam in the role of Geralt of Rivia for the first time following Henry Cavill’s departure. He quit the show in October 2022 after three seasons, citing creative differences.
Liam Hemsworth fans want people to know The Witcher Season 4 is “not Liam’s fault”

After Netflix dropped The Witcher trailer, fans had a lot to say about the show’s new face. This season is Liam’s first (and penultimate) as Geralt of Rivia, because The Witcher is set to end with season five. But fans agree the show’s demise is not his fault.
“Remember guys, it’s not Liam’s fault, it’s the producers,” one person wrote in a comment on the YouTube post for the trailer. “We shouldn’t give Liam any hate,” someone else said, adding: “Henry leaving is not what killed this show, it was the writing.”
“Liam as Geralt is the least problematic thing here. Honestly, I don’t think he’s a bad fit for Geralt. It’s everything else surrounding it,” a third viewer shared. Similarly, another agreed with, “Liam seems alright. But if they don’t fix the problems that pushed out Henry in the first place, it won’t last another season.”
Elaborating on why Henry left the show, a fifth fan commented on exactly that. “Henry Cavill wouldn’t have left the cast of The Witcher if the producers had continued to follow the books,” they wrote. “Henry has made it very clear that he is a fan of the series and truly wanted it to continue in line with the original story. The producers are solely responsible for the fact that Henry Cavill is no longer part of the show.”
