As per TMZ, Sia‘s ex-husband, Daniel Bernard, is seeking spousal support, requesting $250K per month amid their divorce proceedings. And, that’s not all. Moreover, he is seeking additional $300K in legal costs, $200K in forensic accounting fees, and another $200K in costs from Sia.
Sia’s ex allegedly requested for her to pay for legal fees on top of monthly support
A spousal support petition filed on Friday, October 10, says Sia has a considerable net worth, though the specific details are blacked out to the public. Bernard claims he and the singer lived a “luxurious and upper-class lifestyle,” and alleges that they spent over $400,000 every month on extravagant private jet trips, fine dining, and full-time staff.
According to Bernard, he has requested that the court order Sia to pay him temporary spousal support of $250,856 per month. Apparently, he feels the order is necessary at this time because he is financially dependent on Sia, the breadwinner in their marriage. Bernard states that he has almost nothing in his bank account, and has no source of income. The 47-year-old explained that he was a radiation oncologist when he met Sia, but claimed she persuaded him to stop working. The reson for that was that she didn’t like the long hours he spent at the hospital.
When he and Sia opened a ketamine clinic together in Los Angeles in 2021, Bernard’s court documents stated that he formally left his career in oncology. He claimed that Sia has withdrawn financial support for the clinic. And, since his license has lapsed, he can’t return to his hospital work.
Sia has two teenage sons that she adopted, and shares an 18-month-old Somersault Wonder with Bernard. In March, Sia sought legal and physical custody of their child, as well as termination of spousal support option for her estranged husband.
