Jennifer Lopez Says People Aren’t ‘Capable’ of Loving Her Amid Ben Affleck Reunion

Jennifer Lopez is opening up about her struggles with love and self-acceptance, just as her reunion with ex-husband Ben Affleck continues to make headlines. The pop icon shared vulnerable reflections on her past relationships and what she’s learned from them over the years.

Jennifer Lopez talks about being ‘not loved’

During her recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Jennifer Lopez was asked whether she’s ever truly been loved. After a thoughtful pause, she responded, “No,” though she added that she has “truly loved someone else.”

“What I learned, it’s not that I’m not lovable — it’s that they’re not capable,” Lopez said. “They don’t have it in them. And they gave me what they had. They gave me all of it, every time. All the rings, all the things I could ever want. The houses, the rings, the marriage. All of it. But…”

Lopez went on to admit that part of the issue stemmed from her own inner struggles. “I didn’t love myself,” she revealed, adding that her last divorce became a reflective point for her. “When I got divorced this last time, it was the best thing that ever happened to me,” she said.

“Because it really made me journey into— I mean, I had a religious coach, I had a therapist, a couple’s therapist, an individual therapist, I had a coach to understand addiction. I had everything. I was like, ‘I’m gonna f**kin’ figure this s**t out if it kills me.’”

Jennifer Lopez, who has been married four times and shares 17-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony, said her healing process helped her realize that “the core of the thing is you — it’s nobody else.”

Now, the Kiss of the Spider Woman star says she feels “much more self-assured” and “self-aware” about her past. “Know who I am and just really appreciate that person,” she quipped.

Jennifer Lopez’s recent public reunion with Ben Affleck has reignited public fascination, especially after the two appeared together at the Kiss of the Spider Woman New York premiere earlier this month.
