Last July, Real Housewives of Dallas alum D’Andra Simmons revealed a heartbreaking life update. She had breast cancer, she shared. And she fully intended to fight this disease with every fiber in her being.
“Today is the day! I didn’t think I would be the recipient of care at the UTSW Simmons Cancer Center, my uncle Harold Simmons and his Foundation established almost 30 years ago, but now I have breast cancer,” D’Andra wrote. As she explained, “I’m the 3rd woman on my mother’s side of the family to be diagnosed with breast cancer … that we know about. After today, I will add breast cancer survivor to a long list of life experiences,” D’Andra stressed.

D’Andra Simmons took to TikTok to update her fans
On TikTok, a hospital-gown-clad D’Andra shared a reel showcasing her last day of radiation. Once her care team called her back, the video then followed her to the treatment room. Here, D’Andra showed off the “apparatus” she wears for this procedure. “This is what I get into to have the radiation,” she added, noting that it was made specifically for her body size.
After joking that she felt “done with this program” and could now lose weight, the reel shifts again, showing D’Andra standing in a hallway with one of her doctors. “It’s been hard,” D’Andra explained while hugging her doctor and choking back tears. “But I made it,” she shared, as her voice waivered with emotion.
Now, “I get to hit this thing to celebrate,” D’Andra smiled through her tears. And then, D’Andra did just that. As she struck the musical pipes, D’Andra laughed the laugh that only those walking in similar shoes could understand.
